Hello! I'm Richard, and along with my colleague Difu, we're the creators of FutureHR. We're both seasoned HR professionals with over a decade of experience in Fortune 500 companies, having worked across compensation and benefits, organizational development, talent acquisition, and strategic HRBP positions.
The genesis of FutureHR emerged from a simple yet persistent frustration: the lack of a centralized, curated resource hub for HR professionals. While fields like programming and software development enjoy well-organized, easily accessible documentation, the HR knowledge landscape remains fragmented. The challenge isn't merely finding information—it's finding the right information efficiently. This realization, coupled with our passion for People Analytics and drive to advance traditional HR practices, inspired us to create what we wished had existed throughout our careers.
Finding Quality HR Resources Shouldn't Be a Treasure Hunt
Throughout our careers, we've faced a challenge that resonates with many HR professionals: the difficulty of finding high-quality, relevant resources. Unlike technical fields where knowledge is well-documented and accessible, the HR landscape is surprisingly scattered and often unclear.
Let me share some telling examples:
Take Insight222, a leading People Analytics resource. Their valuable research papers and case studies lie hidden in an obscure tab under "What We Do." These potentially transformative resources often go undiscovered by HR professionals seeking to build data-driven practices.
Consider the ONET database, an excellent tool for job analysis and competency mapping. Though freely available, accessing its comprehensive datasets requires navigating a maze of web pages—deterring many before they reach their goal.
Academic research poses similar challenges. Valuable studies on workplace psychology, organizational behavior, and human capital management lie scattered across journals and repositories. Without knowing where to look, HR professionals miss crucial evidence-based practices that could transform their organizations.
Even renowned consulting firms like McKinsey, Deloitte, and BCG bury their excellent HR insights within vast content libraries, making it difficult to find specific, relevant information when needed.
This knowledge fragmentation becomes more critical as our field undergoes massive transformation. We're experiencing a fundamental shift in how organizations manage and develop their human capital.
AI's influence on HR extends far beyond simple automation. We're witnessing AI reshape:
Here's the key: implementing these technologies effectively requires a new breed of HR professional—one who understands both human psychology and machine learning capabilities.
Meanwhile, work itself is transforming:
These shifts demand new frameworks, metrics, and approaches to people management. Traditional HR practices, while foundational, no longer suffice for today's challenges.
Most significantly, we're witnessing a fundamental shift toward data-driven decision-making in HR. This isn't just about more data—it's about having the right data and using it effectively. Modern HR professionals need to understand:
This landscape of rapid change is precisely why we created FutureHR. We envision it not just as a collection of links, but as a carefully curated pathway to the future of HR practice.
This is why FutureHR moves beyond basic HR concepts to focus on cutting-edge developments and emerging trends. We curate resources that help HR professionals:
The truth is, HR's role is transforming fundamentally. We're no longer just people managers—we're strategic partners in business growth, tech-savvy data analysts, and architects of organizational culture. This evolution demands new tools, knowledge, and perspectives.
As HR evolves, so will FutureHR. We're committed to maintaining a current, relevant, and valuable resource hub for HR professionals at all levels. Whether you're a seasoned executive looking to stay ahead or a specialist eager to expand your capabilities, we hope FutureHR becomes your invaluable professional companion.
